THE MEDICAL CENTER IS LOCATED IN THE CITY OF KHOROG, REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN. THE CENTER OCCUPIES A PLOT OF LAND ON THE LOWER PLATEAU BENEATH THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL ASIA, AT AN ALTITUDE OF 2,129 M ABOVE SEA LEVEL.
The building has a rectangular form stripped of decorative elements, with a specific rhythm of apertures marked by elevations and descents of the roof planes. It is highlighted by the choice of facade colors which contrast the browns of the surrounding mountain ridges. The facade color is meant to mark the different parts of the building according to their function. The unique architectural design has been achieved by the use of materials of local origin, use of locally-quarried stone as a floor material on the ground level of the building and as a roof material. In addition to the main building, the site is also occupied by auxiliary buildings positioned at a comfortable distance away from the hospital. The building is divided into several departments: Emergency, In-patient accommodation, Out-patient, Laboratory, Imaging, Maternity and Surgery.
